STAR: 3 years old

NORTHERN STAR: Daddy?
SUNBURST: Oh, hey, Starry! How's it going?
STAR: Mama told me to tell you not to hurt yourself like last time you were late night star gazing.
SUNBURST: That, uh, that was an accident. Heheh.....
STAR: You almost poked your eye out with that big telescope thingy. You had to wear an eyepatch and looked like a pirate for a week. *giggles*
SUNBURST: Tell your mother I'll be fine. I'm not gonna get hurt.
STAR: Promise?
SUNBURST: Promise.
STAR: Pinkie promise?
SUNBURST: Pinkie promise? What's that?
STAR: Auntie Pinkie Pie made it up. Nopony ever breaks a Pinkie promise.
SUNBURST: Alright then. I Pinkie promise.
STAR: Now you gotta say the thing.
SUNBURST: *chuckles* There's more?
STAR: Yeah! You gotta do this *Pinkie promises* Cross my heart and hope to fly stick a cupcake in my eye.
SUNBURST: I'm starting to think you're joking.
STAR: Daddy!
SUNBURST: *sighs* Okay. What do I do first again?
STAR: Cross your heart.
SUNBURST: Cross my heart.
STAR: And hope to fly.
SUNBURST: And hope to fly.
STAR: Stick a cupcake in my eye.
SUNBURST: Now, I thought I WASN'T supposed to be hurting my eyes. *chuckles*
STAR: Daaaaad! This is serious!
SUNBURST: Alright, son. Stick a cupcake in my eye. Are we good?
STAR: *nods* You Pinkie promised Mama that you won't get hurt. And a Pinkie promise can't be broken.
SUNBURST: I'm not going to break it, okay, Star?
STAR: Alright. But I'm watching you.
SUNBURST: Well, good. I need a little company. *pulls son close* wanna watch the stars with me?
STAR: Yeah!
SUNBURST: *lifts STAR with magic and sets him on head* Now look in this telescope and tell me what you see.
STAR: Stars!
SUNBURST: Any stars stand out to you anywhere?
STAR: Uhhhhh......no I--YES! YES! Right there, Daddy! I see a big shiny one right in the middle of it all! It's so bright!
SUNBURST: *looks into telescope* Ah, yes! You found the big Northern Star!
STAR: Hey! That's MY name! Am I a star, Dad?
SUNBURST: Of course you are! Why else would you two have the same name? That star is the brightest star in the entire night sky. There were even three wise powerful kings that used nothing but that star for a grand search many many years ago.
STAR: Wow.....
SUNBURST: *smiles*
STAR: *awe* .........
SUNBURST: Wanna see a faraway galaxy, son?
STAR: You bet!
SUNBURST: *sets STAR on floor* Here. I just got to just adjust the telescope just right * tries adjusting telescope* Let's see here it--ow!
STAR: What?
SUNBURST: Oh just got a little pinched that's all.
STAR: Lemme see *grabs dad's hoof with both hooves* Dad! You're bleeding!
SUNBURST: Oh it's just a small cut that's all. Barely even hurts.
STAR: But....but you PROMISED you wouldn't get hurt! You promised Momma!
SUNBURST: Oh, it'll be fine. She probably won't even notice.
STAR: But she's gonna ask you if you got hurt. You can't lie!
SUNBURST: It will be fine, Star. Okay?
STAR: Maybe kissing the booboo will help. Momma does that to me and Daylight sometimes when WE get booboos. It doesn't make it go away but it makes me feel better.
SUNBURST: Would you do that for me? Gosh, that'd be so nice! Thank you, Starry.
STAR: You're welcome! *kisses SUNBURST's scratch*
(STAR's horn lights up and statics suddenly.)
SUNBURST: Well that's new. Mommy taught you that?
STAR: Huh? What is it? *tries to look at horn*
(STAR slightly touches SUNBURST's hoof with his horn.)
SUNBURST: Ouch! Hey, be careful there.
STAR: *horns stops glowing* Oh, sorry! I hurt you worse. *flattens ears*
SUNBURST: Oh no no, Starry. You did good. I feel MUCH better. Thank you. *hugs STAR*
STAR: Dad?
SUNBURST: Yes?
STAR: Dad! Look! Look!
SUNBURST: What is it?
STAR: The cut! It's gone!
SUNBURST: What? *looks at once injured hoof, completely normal* what? *looks at other front hoof* Huh?!
STAR: I guess kissies DO really make things better! Yay!
SUNBURST: *flabbergasted* Yeah......
TWILIGHT: *from another room* Dinner time!
STAR: Good news is you don't have to tell Mommy you got hurt! Isn't that great?
SUNBURST: Of course it is, Starry. Mommy probably wouldn't have been very happy. Come on.
STAR: Can we race?!
SUNBURST: I don't want you to be upset when I beat you.
STAR: You're not GONNA beat me! *bolts off and bumps into a desk* Ow. I didn't see that there....
SUNBURST: *chuckles* Maybe you need these glasses more than I do. *puts glasses on STAR*
STAR: Hey! I don't wanna wear these!
SUNBURST: Why not? I think you look great with glasses.
STAR: I don't like glasses. Glasses are for ponies that can't see.
SUNBURST: Thanks, son.....

I can't believe I didn't have any pictures with both Northern Star and Sunburst bonding!

I really need to show more parent/child scenarios.

So this is the start of figuring out Star has healing powers. Sunburst thought the diamond marking was a bit unusual but never really put much thought into it until this very point in time.
